I've been with UWM since 2019, never missed a payment. Last year, they suddenly decided I needed an escrow account for taxes and insurance, even though I'd been paying these myself for years.
The monthly payment jumped from $2,100 to $3,450. They sent one letter that I never received (they claim it was sent to an old address, despite having my current address for all other correspondence).
When my auto-payment of $2,100 was rejected, they didn't notify me for 45 days. By then, they claimed I was behind by two payments. I immediately tried to pay the full amount, but their system wouldn't accept it.
I called and was told my account was "under review" and no payments could be accepted. This "review" lasted 60 days, during which they reported me as delinquent to all credit bureaus.
Finally, they demanded 6 months of payments upfront - over $20,000 - or they would proceed with foreclosure. I paid it to save my home, but my credit is destroyed.
